"Xoloitzcuintli" Woodblock Print- Copper on Black Paper
Using the Xoloitzcuntli with a flower in its mouth and the nopales in the background was perfect since they are part of the culture that I have grown up with. Carving this piece was therapeutic to me. I was able to ground myself, and at my own pace, I was redirected back out of that artist block. This little creature, even though it was carved on wood, really guarded and guided my soul.
I am grateful to showcase the results that my creativity brought about the stress of this pandemic. Something always grows from the ashes if you only dare to take that risk.
